![]() ![]() ![]() I tried this 3 times and no iPhone was found in Finder. So.I then tried to start my MBP in safe mode. The choice is no longer "delete images after transfer" but the check box next to " retain originals" which unchecking before transferring does NOT delete them. ![]() ![]() On the other macs, it did not retain the folder, though what it does is let you click on Other and go thru the steps to select the folder you want. On my older mac i used an iPhone 5 and the image capture did retain the folder for later use but did not delete the transferred images from camera roll. Not all the results are the same but none seem to be correct. And I tried it with 3 iPhones and 2 iPads. This is the only app with the problem. And I have it with my MBP as does my wife with hers and I pulled out an old MBP and tried it on my iMac (which it too old for Big Sur). Thanks DiZoE - sorry to be so slow replying.not that I am not happy to hear from you but i was away and wanted to be home to try on other macs at home as well.here is what i 've done and discovered. Are there any correction expected on the next releases of Mojave. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and tips. Previously, until High Sierra, it was quite easy to do: select & import the images that you wanted to import. Now, on Mojave: (1) you have to make a first selection (if you are lucky, because the images are constantly moving back to the top of the screen), then, (2) when you click on Import button, you don't see precisely what has been imported (until High Sierra, there was a green mark on the pictures that were imported) and (3) you the import is finished, you have to re-select all the pictures you imported to delete them from your iPhone (until High Sierra, the pictures you selected remained in the selection after importing them). Are there other people thinking that Image Capture on Mojave is a step backwards compared to the previous versions. It should be noted that the bug only occurs when transferring photos from an iOS device and not when importing photos from digital cameras using Image Capture.Image Capture Mojave - selection is not working correctly Hello, I made the upgrade to Mojave on my 3 Macs (iMac + Macbook Pro).I find it difficult to make a correct selection on the Image Capture App, when I connect my iPhone to the Mac. NeoFinder developers also note that the bug was discovered by “pure chance” when working on further improving the metadata editing capabilities in NeoFinder, using a hex editor called “Hex Fiend.” The group provided an example screenshot of what the end of individual JPG files look like in hex after the transfer is complete. “With just 1000 photos, for example, this bug eats 1.5 GB off your precious and very expensive SSD disk space.” Such a small disk is quickly filled with totally wasted empty data.” “Of course, this is a colossal waste of space,” said the NeoFinder team, “especially considering that Apple is seriously still selling new Macs with a ridiculously tiny 128 GB internal SSD. Please, stop releasing yearly macOS updates. We have just uncovered yet another new embarrassing bug in macOS (Image Capture), which can be quickly filling your disks with empty data: SEE ALSO: Apple's First Mac With ARM Processor To Reportedly Launch In 2021 The developers also say that the bug is present in macOS 10.14.6 and later versions. However, the app also inexplicably adds 1.5MB of empty data to every single file in the process. The blog post notes that this process happens when users uncheck the “Keep Originals” option in Image Capture’s settings, which converts the HEIC files to JPG when copied to Mac. The app is used to import photos and videos from other devices.Īs per a discovery by folks over at NeoFinder ( via MacRumors), the bug kicks in when importing images from an iPhone or iPad - that's when Apple’s Mac tool converts HEIF photos taken by iOS to more standard JPG files and that's what can result in a hard drive being filled up with empty data. A bug has been discovered in the Image Capture app that's part of macOS. ![]()
